Progression 1 - Foot Wrap

Seated Foot Wrap

Points of Performance
- The outside of the first leg should be in contact with the rope.
- Second foot scoops unders and pressures in.
- After you learn the technique, practice it looking away.

Standing Foot Wrap + Hang

Points of Performance
- From a stand bring the lead leg to the rope and then hang.
- Once hanging attempt to support the majority of your bodyweight in the legs.

Wrap Release + Regain

Points of Performance
- In order to release and regain, remove the bottom foot from the rope and then scoop again.
- If the bottom foot stays on the rope it will tangle as you climb.


Progression 2 - Rope Climb

Half Rope Climb

Points of Performance
- Get tall before you get small. Reach up high with the hands and stand as high as possible, then bring the feet as close to the hands as possible.
- Before completing a full climb develop comfort going part way up.
*Only climb to a height you are confident you can descend with control from.

Full Rope Climb

Points of Performance
- The bigger your pulls, the easier this will be.
- Aim to reach high and then bring the feet to the hands.
- Efficient rope climbing should be a combination of lower and upper body strength.
