progressions - Butterfly Kip

Foot Assisted Butterfly Swing

Points of Performance
- One leg extended off the box. Use the leg on the box to assist the motion.
- The butterfly motion is at the shoulders and circular. 

Butterfly Arms Only

Points of Performance
- Do not use the lower body at all. Pull with the arms to create small circles. 
- As the motion gets more comfortable. Increase the size of the circles.

Small Butterfly Kip

Points of Performance
- Add the legs to the butterfly.
- Keep circles small.


Progression - Butterfly Pull-Up

Butterfly Pull-Up

Points of Performance
- Think of pulling through a cyclical motion.
- As you reach the top of the bar arch through to initiate the next rep.

Chest-to-Bar Butterfly Pull-Ups

Points of Performance
- This requires a more aggressive extension and arch away at the top.
